Karkonosze is among the Polish regions that delight with picturesque hiking trails, and Karpacz, the pearl of the region, is an ideal starting point for popular trails. Mountain hiking, while sometimes demanding, delivers an unforgettable experience: the satisfaction of conquering the peaks, and breathtaking views – regardless of the season. The most popular hiking trails in Karpacz include:
Wang Temple – Samotnia – Śnieżka
(blue trail, 9.2 km).
This is perhaps the most popular hiking route in Karpacz, starting at the charming Wang Temple. For the most part, the route leads along a paved access road to Śnieżka. The trail’s biggest attraction is the Mały Staw cirque with the famous Samotnia.
Karpacz Biały Jar (White Canyon) – Słonecznik
(green and yellow trails, 5.4 km).
Not an easy route, it is considered quite strenuous, with no shelters or refreshment facilities. It is popular among lovers of unforgettable views and original rock formations, such as Pielgrzymy (Pilgrims) and Słonecznik (Sunflower).
Karpacz Biały Jar (White Canyon) – Śnieżka
(Red trail, 7.8 km).
The route can be divided into sections of mixed difficulty. Initially, up to the Nad Łomniczanką shelter, it is a comfortable walking trail. Later the route becomes more demanding but compensates for it with magnificent views. The trail leads, among others, through the Nad Łomniczanką shelter, the Łomniczanka waterfall, and the Pod Śnieżką mountain pass.
Karpacz Train Station – Okraj Pass
(black and blue trails, 9.6 km).
Considered challenging, and attractive in terms of views and sightseeing, the route leads through the eastern parts of the Giant Mountains. It leads, among others, through Szeroki Most, Sowia Pass, Skalny Stół, (with a vantage point), and Czoło. Note – there are no refreshment facilities along the route. The only shelter is located on Okraj Pass
Karpacz Train Station – Śnieżka
(yellow, black, red, blue trails, 9.8 km).
Ascent to Śnieżka from the east. It is a less frequented, not easy, but extremely picturesque route. It is worth taking in good weather, as it mostly leads through Czarny Grzbiet, where strong winds are common. It leads through Wilcza Poreba, Szeroki Most, Sowia Pass, and Czarna Kopa.
